Staying Healthy With The Seasons For Your Dachshund

Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, each season brings its own unique beauty.

The Winter months are short and dark, but the rain and snow encourage us to slow down, light a fire, and take in the stark, barren beauty of a winter sky. Spring brings rejuvenation and light, with lots of energy and a burst of aliveness. Summer . . . oh, the lazy days of summer. Time for fun in the sun and basking in long days and balmy nights. Fall brings an initial flamboyant bouquet of color, but then goes into a stage of deep hibernation. It is a time of preparation and rest before the cycle can begin again.

Each of the seasons present unique challenges for our dachshunds. Whether it means an increase in hay fever symptoms, itchy, dry skin, or an increased need for exercise, the seasons affect our doxies just as they do us.

The articles in this section identify some of the unique health challenges each season poses to our dachshunds and suggests ways of combating them.
